Zeta-Jones Catherine: Biography
Birthplace: Swansea, Wales, UK
Date of Birth: 25/09/1969
Catherine Zeta-Jones was born on
September 25, 1969 in small town of
Swansea Wales (UK). Her mother, Pat
Jones, a native of Ireland, father, Dai Jones
is a native of Wales, owner of the
confectionery. In the family, besides
Katherine there were two children - David
Jones (born 1967) and Lydon Jones (born
1972), which is currently engaged in
producing Katherine.
Catherine started to pay interest to
theatrical activity very early - up to ten
years, she enjoyed performing with amateur
troupe in the Catholic Church. When she
was ten the girl got her first role in theater -
in plays "Annie", "Bugs Malone", and three
years on - in "The Panama Game".
When she was fifteen years old, she decided it was perfect time to begin an acting career and she moved to
London in search of glory. But nobody hurried to meet aspiring actress from the provinces with open arms.
Only two years later, after amplification, vocal and dance lessons, she managed to get her first role, but
what! The main part in the musical "42nd street" Catherine got by chance - leading singer got sick, and the
producer noticed the beautiful and talented girl. The musical had become popular and the actors had to give
to seven shows a week.
After the huge success Zeta-Jones decided to take a break and starts her travel to France. Again she was
lucky - she met French director Philippe de Broca, who invited the actress for the part of Scheherazade in
"1001 Nights" (1990).
In 1991 she returned to England, where she received an invitation to participate in the television series "Darling Buds of May", where she played the daughter of farmers from Yorkshire. Series,
which were shown for three years, were a huge success with the public and brought Catherine fame in England. During the shooting Kathryn managed to get small roles in Hollywood films such as
"Indiana Jones", and the film "Christopher Columbus: The Conquest of America." At the same time the actress meets American director John Peter, who falls in love with a young actress and
makes her an offer... But Catherine refused him and said that independence and career for her is more important. She announced her return to the stage. Soon, Zeta-Jones, tired of extreme
attention to her person from the paparazzi, decides to move to the USA and at the same time to conquer Hollywood. But her success in London means nothing there and the actress has to re-prove
their right to be called a star. She is on the beaten track and begins to act in TV series - "The Return of Slave" (1994) and "Catherine the Great" (1995).
In 1996, Katherine gets the main role in the TV version of "Titanic" and Steven Spielberg notices her. The director invited Zeta-Jones to star in his film "The Mask of Zorro", where Catherine has
played decently in tandem with famous Antonio Banderas; and she has received many rave reviews from critics. Since 1999 she began acting in big-budget blockbuster: "The Trap" (1999), where
her partner was Sean Connery, "The Phantom of Hill House" (1999) with Liam Nizon and Lili Taylor. The year 2000 was very difficult for the actress, because she both starred in the romantic
comedy "A strong commitment" and "Traffic", where her partner was Michael Douglas. Douglas managed to love Catherine and on New Year's Eve from 2000 to 2001 he proposed to her. The
wedding was played November 18, 2001.
